This is not a good time to start writing a new book
This is not a good time to start writing a new book. You have already invested so much time and resources on the book you were already writing. Now, with the political consequences of what it means to be a writer and what it means to be a writer who discusses social issues in one way or another, you should not shy away from your original ideas. They are still worth sharing. Even as we see some points you were making manifest and take form as we go further into the new administration, one can easily say that those ideas that are old to you are smacking brand new to someone else. That is what teaching is about. You must share what you have accumulated and bring to light what is worth protesting and what is worth preserving in our various societies.
The reason? We are at a point where society loses form. As society loses form our various communities will no doubt drift into bad habits of low-thought-level indices. You can help prevent this and if that can be prevented then the potential for revolution and reform is still alive. If we can collectively rise to the challenge to maintain form, and continue working on what we have spent so much of our individual lives becoming so well acquainted with, then I plead with you, now is not the time to get distracted with new projects. I understand the pure lure of new projects, and indeed, you should take detailed notes, but do not leave what you know well. If you do society will be leaving what we should collectively know well and in that we will fall into low-thought-level indices of commercialization. We will fall into a silent drift, away from the light, and into a place where we use empty mortar shells as coffee pots.
