The idea that pride is the worst offense to oneself and to one’s fellow human family is obsolete, outdated, and has now become abstract. The current worst offense of our contemporary age is without a doubt entitlement, in how it shapes the self as a directive more deserving than others. It is entitlement that is tearing down the Earth today. It is entitlement that is killing our fellow humans today. It is entitlement that abandons others to a fate of emptiness while they enjoy more than they need to survive, more than anyone needs to exist in this dying societal makeup. Entitlement is intergenerational. We see in the old, the middle-aged, the young, and the far too young. Pride is yesterday’s illness. Today’s diagnosis is entitlement.
