To be honest, I told my close people this poem deserved a Pulitzer…and meant it at the time

After writing “We Spoke like digging in the wedded eclipsing prose,” I told my close people that this poem deserved a Pulitzer, but of course none of my poems will even reviewed. And lots of people read my poems, and come back later. So I don’t know what people are doing with my poetry. I don’t even know if they are seeing the layers in the poetry that is technically high art. I have given up after these few years. People keep coming back and there are always new readers, so what do they get from my poetry? To continue to the point. I honestly believed that poem was that good, for like, a couple of days. Now I am back and well buckled into the “I’m not really good at anything” high life and apologizing for everything even though it is in no way my fault. Yep. Pulitzer. Most likely a projection of my deeply rooted desire to get out of this life, this country, and this Southeastern Southern population group – even though I know assholes are everywhere.
