I do not monitor traffic to my poetry with strict adherence, but I do try to review what poems are getting attention at least once a month. There are two poems that have been included in the list of most read poems month after month for some time now: The Ontology of a Hummingbird, posted in June of 2024, and The County Villages of 1960s Seismology, posted in September of 2024.
I am happy with how these two poems turned out. It is surprising to see them continue to make the most read list with such consistency. One would think with this much popularity I would be getting multiple external websites linking to them, and maybe they are and I am just not getting that information. However, I am not certain how readers keep finding them. I do feel a little sad that a few other poems that I think are just as good do not get nearly as much attention. I am not sure there is anything I can do about that.
From what I can gather, God does not wish to let me to have a career as a poet. No, I’m stuck with a day job that burns me out, stresses me out, and is bad for my mental and physical health. Wanting to keep these poems preserved just in case one day someone thinks they are worth reading, I have posed two books (so far) to Internet Archive, making both books free to download. I know the “read” count is low, but they are rather long and the way it was explained to me that “read” only includes someone who has stayed on that page and read through the entire book through Internet Archive. I also know it is odd that the Internet Archive is count is like that considering the monthly traffic I can see. The first books is over 400 pages, making it unreasonable for someone to sit and read them all through that format. The second book is much shorter but I still do not consider the reading a book in the Internet Archive format the most comfortable. Anyways, feel free to download Upon the Written Hours and By the Journey of Sands.
